Skid Steer Blog Post

Ready, Set, Skid Steer!

Hello again, this is Rich Wilson the store manager of Equipment & Event Rental. If you did not get a chance already to read my earlier blog on lawn care, please scroll down and check it out! Today I will briefly tell you a little bit about myself. I am now going into my fourth year with the company. Since becoming the store manager three years ago it has been my mission to provide my local community, as well as the surrounding areas, with nothing less than the best customer service. Whether you are a contractor or homeowner, my staff and I will stop at nothing to ensure you have the right tool for the job.
Have you ever spent all day in the summer heat moving piles of dirt or mulch with a wheel barrow, or how about digging post holes in the ground to install your new fence? I have a few machines that can service all of your landscaping and outdoor needs in one. Today I am going to be discussing the many different uses of skid steer loaders, some of which may not even be known to you. Front end loader skid steers are engine powered machines with rigid frames that are equipped with lift arms that can be used to attach a wide variety of tools and equipment. The benefits of these attachments greatly reduce labor times and wear and tear on your body.
The first machine I will be discussing is our brand new Bobcat S650 Skid Steer Loader. This is a wheeled machine and is equipped with a 74 HP diesel turbocharged engine and a fully enclosed climate controlled cab (this means A/C and heat!). The model has a vertical lift path which increases lifting capacity and a greater forward reach at maximum height for dumping into trucks or dumpsters. The machine has an operating capacity of 2,690lbs with a tipping load of 5,380lbs. This model also has a two speed option to make transportation between locations on the job site quicker. The S650 is a machine that can tackle any obstacle that comes in its way. It is a heaver machine which enables it to lift heavier items than most other skid steers whether that’d be dirt, pavers, mulch or snow.
The next model of skid steer I will be discussing with you is our Bobcat T190 Compact Track Loader. This model is equipped with a 61HP Kubota diesel engine and also has an enclosed climate controlled cab. In soft or muddy conditions where regular wheeled loaders can possible get stuck, the T190 loader saves the day with its dedicated rubber track system. The tracks are also less aggressive on the surface the machine is used on (like your lawn). The machine’s operating capacity is 1,900lbs with a tipping load of 5,430lbs.  This smaller sleek design of the T190 combined with its large engine and traction make this machine unbeatable for all your landscaping and loading needs when used for jobs where sandy or muddy conditions apply.
Next up, we have our Bobcat Skid Steer 763 Loader. The Bobcat 763 has a 46 HP engine and an operating capacity of 1,500lbs. This machine’s tipping capacity is 3,000lbs. Out of the three Bobcat models we offer, the 763 is the more traditional style skid steer, however, upgraded in every way. It is manufactured with a longer wheel base for smoother turning, and a higher capacity hydraulic pump to work with any attachment. If you are not lifting a large amount of weight, this may be the right machine for you. Make sure you check out all of our attachments that are interchangeable on all of our Bobcat Skid Steers
Last but not least, I will be discussing our Vermeer S600TX Mini Track Loader. For smaller projects, this machine makes it simple to get to work fast with its easy to learn controls. It is compact enough to drive right through a fence gate. The loader has a 25 HP engine with a lifting capacity of 500lbs. This machine also accepts attachments such as earth augers to make this machine very well rounded and versatile. The machine is small and fast which makes getting around the yard a quick and easy process. For smaller jobs such as moving small piles of dirt that do not require much lifting, this machine is perfect for you. It also comes with an operator presence safety feature which means if you step off of it any point it will automatically brake and stop moving.
Whatever your needs may be the staff at Equipment & Event Rental will help you get the right equipment for your job. No more back breaking days in the heat, just stop on in and see us. There is only one thing that can make a long day of moving dirt or digging holes even easier than a skid steer and that’s a skid steer with a 72 degree climate controlled cab!
