Floor Sanding Drum vs Orbital

To Drum Sand or not to Drum Sand? That is the question!

Hello, my name is John Endlein and I have been a part of the Equipment & Event Rental family for a year and a half.  I applied hoping to find a decent seasonal job, but what I found was much more than that.   Equipment & Event Rental offers friendly and educated advice when it comes to your rental needs.  The compassion that every one of my co-workers shares for what they do is unmatched.

The cold is beginning to settle in, and if you’re looking for something to do around the house I can’t think of anything better than refinishing your hardwood floors (OK well maybe there are a few things better).  Why pay a contractor when you can do the job yourself with the help of Equipment & Event Rental? Today I'm going to go over three tools designed to sand your floor to a new beginning.

The first item I would like to introduce to you today is the SL8 Essex silver line drum sander. Hardwood floors are no match for this machine.  The simple design allows for easy replacement of sanding belts as well as top-notch maneuverability around your home or work place.  Operating this machine is as simple as turning it on and walking the sander back and fourth with the grain of the wood.  All the sawdust produced by the machine is sucked into a hopper bag, helping to keep your work space free of unwanted dust. Vast areas of flooring are quickly conquered with the SL8 Silver line drum sander all while not breaking the bank.

The next item I’m going to introduce to you today is the SL7 Essex silver line floor edger.  The SL7 is the robin to the batman of the SL8.  This sander is built specifically for tacking those hard to reach spaces around your walls and doors that you just cant reach with the SL8 drum sander.  What silver line sacrificed in size, they made up for in simplicity and convenience.  The SL7 floor edger is handheld and designed so that the sanding pad can get extremely close to the wall without causing any damage to your molding or baseboards.  Have your floor looking professionally done with the finishing work of the SL7 silver line floor edger.

The final item I wanted to bring to you today is the U-sand orbital floor sander.  Unlike the SL8 drum sander mentioned above, the U-sand orbital floor sander takes care of your floors with a less aggressive orbital pad design.  These pads are extremely easy to change, attached simply by Velcro. This design allows you to sand not just with the grain of the wood, but any way you choose, making this sander ideal for small spaces such as closets.  Its upright design also lets the U-sand orbital sander get extremely close to the walls, cutting out the need of an additional edging sander.

When using all of the machines I mentioned above, it is important to pick the right sandpaper for the job.   At Equipment & Event rental, we have what you need.  From the course grit belts and pads used to level off your floor to the fine grit ones used to give your floor that nice smooth look, it’s all in stock.  We even have buffing pads to take your job to the next level.  Don’t be shy and come on by to Equipment & Event Rental, where we can answer any questions you might have about getting started on your floor project, or any other project you might have in mind.  Our expert service is unmatched and will leave you with a smile.
