Floor Sanding Drum vs Orbital

To Drum Sand or not to Drum Sand? That is the question!

Hello, my name is John Endlein and I have been a part of the Equipment & Event Rental family for a year and a half.  I applied hoping to find a decent seasonal job, but what I found was much more than that.   Equipment & Event Rental offers friendly and educated advice when it comes to your rental needs.  The compassion that every one of my co-workers shares for what they do is unmatched.

The cold is beginning to settle in, and if you’re looking for something to do around the house I can’t think of anything better than refinishing your hardwood floors (OK well maybe there are a few things better).  Why pay a contractor when you can do the job yourself with the help of Equipment & Event Rental? Today I'm going to go over three tools designed to sand your floor to a new beginning.

The first item I would like to introduce to you today is the SL8 Essex silver line drum sander. Hardwood floors are no match for this machine.  The simple design allows for easy replacement of sanding belts as well as top-notch maneuverability around your home or work place.  Operating this machine is as simple as turning it on and walking the sander back and fourth with the grain of the wood.  All the sawdust produced by the machine is sucked into a hopper bag, helping to keep your work space free of unwanted dust. Vast areas of flooring are quickly conquered with the SL8 Silver line drum sander all while not breaking the bank.

The next item I’m going to introduce to you today is the SL7 Essex silver line floor edger.  The SL7 is the robin to the batman of the SL8.  This sander is built specifically for tacking those hard to reach spaces around your walls and doors that you just cant reach with the SL8 drum sander.  What silver line sacrificed in size, they made up for in simplicity and convenience.  The SL7 floor edger is handheld and designed so that the sanding pad can get extremely close to the wall without causing any damage to your molding or baseboards.  Have your floor looking professionally done with the finishing work of the SL7 silver line floor edger.

The final item I wanted to bring to you today is the U-sand orbital floor sander.  Unlike the SL8 drum sander mentioned above, the U-sand orbital floor sander takes care of your floors with a less aggressive orbital pad design.  These pads are extremely easy to change, attached simply by Velcro. This design allows you to sand not just with the grain of the wood, but any way you choose, making this sander ideal for small spaces such as closets.  Its upright design also lets the U-sand orbital sander get extremely close to the walls, cutting out the need of an additional edging sander.

When using all of the machines I mentioned above, it is important to pick the right sandpaper for the job.   At Equipment & Event rental, we have what you need.  From the course grit belts and pads used to level off your floor to the fine grit ones used to give your floor that nice smooth look, it’s all in stock.  We even have buffing pads to take your job to the next level.  Don’t be shy and come on by to Equipment & Event Rental, where we can answer any questions you might have about getting started on your floor project, or any other project you might have in mind.  Our expert service is unmatched and will leave you with a smile.

Skid Steer Blog Post

Ready, Set, Skid Steer!

Hello again, this is Rich Wilson the store manager of Equipment & Event Rental. If you did not get a chance already to read my earlier blog on lawn care, please scroll down and check it out! Today I will briefly tell you a little bit about myself. I am now going into my fourth year with the company. Since becoming the store manager three years ago it has been my mission to provide my local community, as well as the surrounding areas, with nothing less than the best customer service. Whether you are a contractor or homeowner, my staff and I will stop at nothing to ensure you have the right tool for the job.
Have you ever spent all day in the summer heat moving piles of dirt or mulch with a wheel barrow, or how about digging post holes in the ground to install your new fence? I have a few machines that can service all of your landscaping and outdoor needs in one. Today I am going to be discussing the many different uses of skid steer loaders, some of which may not even be known to you. Front end loader skid steers are engine powered machines with rigid frames that are equipped with lift arms that can be used to attach a wide variety of tools and equipment. The benefits of these attachments greatly reduce labor times and wear and tear on your body.
The first machine I will be discussing is our brand new Bobcat S650 Skid Steer Loader. This is a wheeled machine and is equipped with a 74 HP diesel turbocharged engine and a fully enclosed climate controlled cab (this means A/C and heat!). The model has a vertical lift path which increases lifting capacity and a greater forward reach at maximum height for dumping into trucks or dumpsters. The machine has an operating capacity of 2,690lbs with a tipping load of 5,380lbs. This model also has a two speed option to make transportation between locations on the job site quicker. The S650 is a machine that can tackle any obstacle that comes in its way. It is a heaver machine which enables it to lift heavier items than most other skid steers whether that’d be dirt, pavers, mulch or snow.
The next model of skid steer I will be discussing with you is our Bobcat T190 Compact Track Loader. This model is equipped with a 61HP Kubota diesel engine and also has an enclosed climate controlled cab. In soft or muddy conditions where regular wheeled loaders can possible get stuck, the T190 loader saves the day with its dedicated rubber track system. The tracks are also less aggressive on the surface the machine is used on (like your lawn). The machine’s operating capacity is 1,900lbs with a tipping load of 5,430lbs.  This smaller sleek design of the T190 combined with its large engine and traction make this machine unbeatable for all your landscaping and loading needs when used for jobs where sandy or muddy conditions apply.
Next up, we have our Bobcat Skid Steer 763 Loader. The Bobcat 763 has a 46 HP engine and an operating capacity of 1,500lbs. This machine’s tipping capacity is 3,000lbs. Out of the three Bobcat models we offer, the 763 is the more traditional style skid steer, however, upgraded in every way. It is manufactured with a longer wheel base for smoother turning, and a higher capacity hydraulic pump to work with any attachment. If you are not lifting a large amount of weight, this may be the right machine for you. Make sure you check out all of our attachments that are interchangeable on all of our Bobcat Skid Steers
Last but not least, I will be discussing our Vermeer S600TX Mini Track Loader. For smaller projects, this machine makes it simple to get to work fast with its easy to learn controls. It is compact enough to drive right through a fence gate. The loader has a 25 HP engine with a lifting capacity of 500lbs. This machine also accepts attachments such as earth augers to make this machine very well rounded and versatile. The machine is small and fast which makes getting around the yard a quick and easy process. For smaller jobs such as moving small piles of dirt that do not require much lifting, this machine is perfect for you. It also comes with an operator presence safety feature which means if you step off of it any point it will automatically brake and stop moving.
Whatever your needs may be the staff at Equipment & Event Rental will help you get the right equipment for your job. No more back breaking days in the heat, just stop on in and see us. There is only one thing that can make a long day of moving dirt or digging holes even easier than a skid steer and that’s a skid steer with a 72 degree climate controlled cab!

Backhoes & Excavators

Rent It. Dig It!

Hello everyone. My name is Chris Chilkotowsky and I am the Assistant Manager at Equipment & Event Rental. In today’s blog post I will be talking to you about our backhoes and excavators we offer for rent.

The first rental item I would like to present to you is the 4WD John Deere 110 Tractor Loader Backhoe. It’s equipped with a 43-hp, 4 cylinder, diesel engine, and great hydraulic power of up to 31 hp. This backhoe is very good for doing a wide variety of jobs from landscaping to septic system work. Are you redoing your driveway and need to grade and remove your old stones? This machine would work really well for that and also work great for laying down all of your new stone. This machine is very versatile and even though it was made for construction it is suitable to be used for homeowner purposes as well. The backhoe has a digging depth of up to 10 feet.

The next machine I will be talking about is our Kubota B26 Tractor Loader Backhoe. This machine is smaller than our John Deere backhoe with a 23 hp, it has a 3 cylinder engine, but it does not compromise in performance. The Kubota B26 is more compact, and is geared more towards smaller jobs. It can be used for both commercial and homeowner use, making this machine one of the most complete machines we have available to rent. The loader end of the B26 comes with a 60inch wide bucket and is very powerful. It can hold up to 1300lbs at maximum height! The Backhoe end of the machine had a digging depth of 8.3ft and has a digging force over 4200 lbs.  This machine is great for doing all kinds of odd jobs around the yard. It’s great for moving and laying mulch, stone or dirt. Or if you need to grade your yard, this machine is great for that too. The Kubota B26 is a must rent for contractors and homeowners alike for small to medium sized jobs.

The last and final machine I’ll be sharing with you today is the John Deere 35D Excavator. This machine has a zero-tail-swing design, which means it can rotate a complete 360 degrees on a central axis without having to worry about the tail end swinging over the tracks and possibly bumping a stationary object you’re working next to. The boom can swing 134 degrees, which combined with the zero-tail-swing feature gives you complete comfort and control in a tight setting. It is set on two standard rubber tracks which enables its use on a wide variety of different terrains and makes maneuverability easy and efficient. The main feature of the John Deere 35D is the 17ft digging arm. It has a digging depth of over 10ft and a digging force over 6,000 lbs! This machine is perfect for digging long trenches and digging out smaller foundations. It could also be really useful for pulling debris out of the ground. This machine also has a switch to make it easier to use by choosing either the backhoe operating controls or switching it to the excavator controls set. Did you know that a track machine is actually safer for minimizing damage to your grass and yard while driving on it than a wheeled machine? It does this by spreading out the ground pressure per square inch.

All three of these machines are available to rent here at Equipment & Event Rental, your rental specialists for all of your rental needs. Be sure to check back often and read more of our blog posts. I hope to see you soon and happy holidays!

Comfort in the Cold - Rent the Right Heater!

Comfort in the Cold!

First off let me introduce myself. My name is Kris Tenner, I am approaching my third year of working for Equipment & Event Rental. I came on board as the equipment mechanic and shortly after began exploring more into the rental and customer service side of the company. I enjoy the customer interaction and like to pair the right tool for the job. Working hand in hand with the customer gives me satisfaction and a chance to hear firsthand feedback on the items we rent.

Living in New Jersey we can expect the unexpected, but it does not mean we won‘t be prepared. We all know that whatever Mother Nature brings, the work must go on, but the good thing is we have the equipment to make even the most difficult times comfortable and efficient. Today I am going to introduce four models of our rental heaters. As a mechanic I have needed and used each of these heaters in different situations to help me complete my own tasks and boy, am I thankful that I have had the resources to make a difficult job more comfortable. The beautiful thing is that you too also have these resources available seven days a week and only a quick phone call away.

The first heater I want to introduce to you is our Kerosene forced air heater. It’s available in both a 165,000 BTU Model B165CT rating and also a 200,000 BTU Model B200CT. These heaters are designed to be used in a well ventilated area typically a construction, agricultural or commercial environment. Both feature a built in thermostat to maintain temperature and help to save fuel. The 155,000 BTU model will heat a 3,600 square foot area and run approximately 12 hours on a full tank of fuel, 13.5 gallons of Diesel or Kerosene. The 165,000 BTU model will give you more heating capacity at 3,900 square feet with an 11 hour run time on a 13.5 gallon self contained fuel tank.

The next line of heaters we offer are the propane forced air heaters. These are very similar to the kerosene models but have some different features and benefits. The BLP100 consumes 4.6 lbs per hour of propane and has three output settings 65,000 BTU, 85,000 BTU and 100,000 BTU. It can quickly warm up an area of 2,350 square feet and is very easy to operate with an automatic ignition and one hand controls. We also offer the BLP155AT heater. It too features easy operation but has a BTU output of 155,000 BTU and can accommodate an area up to 3,500 square feet and consumes 7lbs of propane per hour of operation. These heaters operate on propane with portable propane tanks. We rent the 100lb tanks and also sell the propane to keep us your one stop rental shop. The BLP155AT heater will run for 14 hours off of a full 100lb propane tank while the BLP100 will run for 21 hours off of a full 100lb propane tank.

Next up we have a heater available for enclosed/non-ventilated areas, our 1500 watt electric radiant heat zone heaters. These heaters reach full heat in just three minutes and perfect for heating areas that you want direct heat. They attain a 15 degree increase in zone temperature and have zero emissions or odor. This is the perfect heater for working in a unfinished room, a garage or even keeping an area of the house warm while waiting for your homes heater to be prepared. It’s light weight and very compact making it a nice fit for many applications.

Lastly we have the 200K Propane BTU Convection MasterHeater model TC200V. This heater is designed for an open construction type setting. Some use it to help dry paint, curing concrete, concrete freeze protection or dry walling in large construction settings. This model has three heat settings and can accommodate an area from 2,350-4,700 square feet. This model runs on either a 40lb or a 100lb propane tank that we can also rent to you.

We are here to help you make the best of whatever job you have to tackle. Every one of us takes pride in supplying the right equipment for the right job. This winter whether your heater breaks or you’re remodeling the garage, don’t shiver, give us a call because we have the right heater to make you comfortable. Stay safe and warm my friends!
